Tension As Niger Delta Avengers’ 14-Day Ultimatum Expires With Bombing Of Chevron Pipeline…

There is wild panic in the Niger Delta area as the 14-day ultimatum given by the Niger Delta Avengers elapses on Thursday, May 26, 2016.

This is coming up just as the new militant group blew up a major pipeline that supplies gas to Escravos tank farm in Delta State on Thursday, May 26, 2016.

The Niger Delta Avengers had in a statement by its spokesperson, Col Murdoch Agbinibo on Thursday, May 12, 2016 warned major oil bloc owners to shut down operations and evacuate the workers on the oil field within two weeks.

We Warned #Chevron but they didn't Listen. @NDAvengers just blow up the Escravos tank farm Main Electricity Feed PipeLine.

This was following a discovery that most of the oil blocs were owned by Northerners among whom were the former minister of defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd), former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,  former military head of state, Ibrahim Babangida.

Meanwhile, security agencies have reportedly concluded plans to be present at the meeting of Ijaw youths in Warri later on Thursday, May 26, 2016.

A security source who preferred anonymity said: “All security operatives in the country are currently on their toes following security reports that the Niger Delta Avengers has promised to resume hostilities after the expiration of its two-week ultimatum.”

Also, the people of Egbema ethnic nationality in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State have in a statement on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 refuted media reports that the new militant group has its base in Egbema Kingdomiota.

The statement, issued by Mr. Jude Ukori, read in part: “The author of the story could have at least mentioned one of the communities in Egbema Kingdom where such a base was situated.

“Since he failed to mention any, the publication was a wild allegation generated by criminals and mischievous persons in an attempt to drag the good name of Egbema people to the mud."
